The Adult Education Committee actively promotes educational activities and programs for the congregation.

Chair: Tamara Kerner
ARZA is the Association of Reform Zionists of America, it is the Zionist arm of the URJ (Union for Reform Judaism), the governing body of the reform movement. The B’ShERT ARZA committee helps to reinforce our congregation’s commitment and support for Israel as well as to promote the Reform Movement and progressive Judaism in Israel.

Supervises all matters pertaining to the maintenance and improvement of the facilities of the Temple.

Co-chairs: Ellyn Rothstein, Emily Whitehead
Sets up and organizes the temple calendar at a yearly meeting with participation from committee chairs, clergy and president of the synagogue.

Co-Chairs: Ruth Bile, Gene Guskin
Shows concern for the well-being of congregants and the community through appropriate activities including visiting the ill, homebound and bereaved and providing meals.

Faye Levine Guskin, Chair
Seeks to make a difference in the lives of people in need and supports vetted organizations outside of Temple with funds accrued from the High Holiday charity appeal.

Publicity Sub-Committee Chair: Ellyn RothsteinCreates and implements Temple communications, both internal and external, for the consolidated congregation. The Committee’s responsibilities include the Temple newsletter, website and social media sites, and the dissemination of information to media outlets.

Responsible for general finances, including the budget, investments, and cemetery.

Seeks out and creates opportunities for raising funds for our temple, including events which “raise fun” as well.

Promotes Jewish culture to the congregation, with an emphasis on organizing outings both in the local and the wider communities.

Promotes the financial health, stability and sustainability of the congregation.

Ellyn Rothstein & Joanie Holland Schaffer, Co-Chair
Develops outreach activities designed to spread the word about Temple, its programs, its spiritual culture and its community and reaches out to potential new members representing diverse and interfaith families, Jews of choice, LGBT community members and those with varied interests and views. Membership also works to create a welcoming environment for new members and old, developing programs to foster community within the temple and encourage members to become and remain engaged in temple life.

Joanie Holland Schaffer, Chair
Rabbi Alexis Pinsky, EducatorWorks together with the Educator to develop policies and procedures for the Religious School. The Committee also assists in the planning and execution of school-wide events throughout the year, including family celebrations for the High Holidays and Festivals. Committee members represent a cross-section of stakeholders in the Religious School and also serve as an advisory board for proposed changes to school curriculum and to the structure and content of Family Shabbat Services.

In consultation with clergy, will establish the rituals and observances of the congregation.

Provides a connection between the Congregation and the community at large with regard to raising consciousness of world and community issues from a Jewish perspective.
