
This year, our learning centers on the richness of Jewish practices and cultures, through texts, prayer, mitzvot, and community life. Students will explore core Jewish values, holidays, and rituals. Across all grades, students will participate in Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), Tzedakah, and projects that emphasize caring for community. The entire school will take part in meaningful and spirited holiday observances throughout the year.

Students will explore Shabbat traditions, holidays, and foundational Torah stories from Bereisheit (Genesis). Hebrew will be introduced through multisensory, explicit instruction, using music, movement, tactile materials, visual cues, and stories. Students will create artworks related to text and ritual, and experience blessings through joyful engagement and community. |

| 3rd grade to 5th grade | שְׁמוֹת – Exodus | Students will explore core Jewish prayers and their meanings. Project and carefully scaffolded activities will help unlock themes in the story of Exodus. Introductory Hebrew instruction will continue through explicit and kinesthetic learning, helping students build their confidence and skills. Students will also study midrashim about the Hebrew language and explore how Hebrew functions in both sacred and secular spaces, past and present. Students will expand prior knowledge of holidays, including Shabbat, and upon customs of blessing related to food. |

| 6th grade to 8th grade | כתובים ונביאים Ketuvim v’Nevi’im – Writings & Prophets | Students will study selections from Ketuvim and Nevi’im, with a focus on some Megillot (Scrolls), often creating art and performance in response. They will explore Jewish life cycle events and reflect on the rituals and values that shape Jewish lives across time and cultures. Students will engage in mitzvot as well as oral history work. Hebrew and Tefillah skills, as well as leadership development, will be woven throughout the year. Students will also have the opportunity to learn texts through an Earth-based Judaism lens. |
