Religious School Opening Day Saturday September 6
Religious School Starts Saturday, September 6th
(plus a bagel welcome breakfast!)
Welcome and welcome back(!) to B’ShERT religious school, which kicks off the 5785/86 (aka 2025/26) school year on Saturday, September 6th at 9:30 am.
Join us to ring in an exciting new season, starting with a welcome breakfast with bagels and spreads, an opportunity to hear from our religious school director about the year’s curriculum, and of course, a chance to meet our rabbi to learn about the B’ShERT community.
Kids will then go on to class with their teachers at 10 am while everyone else will have a Q&A with the rabbi and get to know each other until we gather in the sanctuary at 11 for a musical Shabbat service—part of the religious school day.

Rosh Hashanah Family Service, followed by Tashlich & Field Games
August 25, 2025 by jennifer • Features, Religious School
Open to all—members and non-members alike!
Please bring photo ID to check in at the service.
Join us on Tuesday, September 23, for a music-filled Rosh Hashanah family service for families with kids from birth to brit mitzvah-age. Kids will learn about the meaning of Rosh Hashanah, sing songs, and generally have a fun time in a relaxed atmosphere.
Then, after the service, walk with us to Prospect Park where we’ll have a short Tashlich service by the lake and ritually rid ourselves of our sins. (And by “sins,” we mean birdseed, which the ducks and geese are waiting for.) From there, we’ll stay in the park for field games like corn hole, ring toss, frisbee bottle bash, and more.
This has become an annual tradition as we all get into the swing of the new school year. It’s a perfect opportunity for parents and kids to get to know each other in a relaxed setting. Families who want to learn more about B’Shert can chat with long-time members whose kids have grown up at the congregation.
All in all, our Rosh Hashanah events are a great way to get a feel for what the B’Shert community is all about.
Here’s the day’s lineup:
September 23, 2025
1:30 pm: Rosh Hashanah Family Service at B’Shert
2:30 pm: Walk together to Prospect Park for Tashlich & field games
2:45 pm: Tashlich Service
3:00 pm: Play field games and get to know other B’Shert families
Then, a few days later, join us for our Yom Kippur Family Service on Thursday, October 2 at 1 pm.
See you there!
