Planning for the 2025/5785 B’ShERT Gala Luncheon is underway! Please mark your calendar for Sunday, June 8, 2025 (details are below).
We are pleased to announce that this year’s honorees are our longtime friends and congregants, Faye Levine Guskin and Alan Zarrow.
Faye and her husband Gene joined Temple Ahavath Shalom in the 1980s and celebrated the naming of their daughter Jillian. Faye has chaired many B’ShERT committees including the Security Protocol Committee and the Charity Committee and has served as a vice president and trustee. She applied for and received a New York Landmarks Conservancy grant to repair our historic stained-glass windows and spent many hours writing the two government grants that have allowed us to upgrade safety and security in our building. Faye continues to manage the implementation of these security grants and is always on the lookout for ways to ensure the safety of everyone who enters our temple building.
Alan and his family joined Temple Beth Emeth in the 1960s. He became a bar mitzvah in 1968 and was active in the temple’s Youth Group. He is currently a trustee at B’ShERT. Alan has served on many temple committees, is an active member of our Brotherhood affiliate, and has been a co-editor of the temple newsletter. He has organized many entertaining and informative lectures that have tapped into his wide-ranging knowledge of people whose contributions (both famous and infamous) have made them historical figures. Alan has also served as the emcee at every B’ShERT luncheon, with one notable exception. (Hint: He won’t be introducing himself as one of this year’s honorees.)
We continue to be blessed to have members who volunteer their time and talents to keep B’ShERT active and thriving.
We hope that many of you will join us for this wonderful event. (Journal ad sales have closed.)
