No Religious School on December 21!

The NYC Department of Education just announced that December break will begin Monday December 23, rather than Tuesday December 24. Therefore, the last day of B’ShERT religious school in 2024 will be Saturday December 14, 2024.

The Fundraising Committee presents – Jews and Booze?
 Sunday, November 3rd, 2:30 pm.
Temple member Mady Kaye will lead us in a historic journey as we learn about bootlegging in the era of Prohibition and speakeasies, and what that had to do with Jews.
John DeFelice of Windsor Wine Merchants will be pouring and educating us about rye, bourbon, sacrament wine & Zinfandel.
Snacks will be provided and raffles offered.
$36 per person.  Checks made payable to B’ShERT.
RSVP by October 27th to the office!

Simchat Torah Festivities: dancing, Torah, blessings…oh my!

In the end and...in the beginning Simchat Torah at B'ShERT

Join us on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:30 pm for one of the most fun and awe-inspiring services of the year. 

First, we will consecrate all of the children and students in our midst, blessing them for a sweet year of learning, both in our community and outside it. This is a special moment for the kids–don’t miss it!

Then we’ll dance with the Torah like nobody’s watching! Literally, through the aisles. It’s a truly joyous celebration.

Then we unroll the entire Torah scroll, filling up the entire sanctuary and giving everyone the chance to see every part of the Torah up close and personal while we hear the last words of Deuteronomy and the first words of Genesis.

Sukkah Decorating and Dinner in Ditmas Park–October 16

Nothing says “Happy Sukkot” like decorating the sukkah and a pizza dinner, right? Join us on Wednesday October 16 for decorating fun and a community dinner in the B’ShERT sukkah.

Starting at 6 pm you can let your artistic side run wild. It’s only our second year with our extra-big sukkah this year, and that means extra inspiration and extra decorating.

Once you’ve had your creative fill, get your belly full as well with pizza dinner in the sukkah followed by a short service to welcome the holiday. What a wonderful way to end the weekend!

Following on the heels of our Rosh Hashanah festivities and Yom Kippur… fastivities(?), this is another great way for families—members and prospective members alike—to get to know each other in a low-key, social setting.

Join clergy and communities from around Brownstone Brooklyn in a reflective, musical ceremony of mourning and remembrance, marking one year since those lost in the horrific attacks of October 7, 2023.
